WORKSHOPS

Our ongoing filmmaking project with Alex the Tortoise offers a glimpse of the creative workshops we hope to develop at Loft Saltcoats, inviting participants to create their own characters and bring them to life through stories inspired by Scotland’s landscapes and coast.

The films follow the making of Alex—a shy tortoise who is afraid of water—as he discovers the Saltcoats coast and later ventures aboard the Waverley paddle steamer to Dunoon.

Combining character-making, filmmaking, storytelling, music and exploration, the project shows how a simple handmade character can become a starting point for creativity, adventure and seeing familiar places in a new way.
